INDIANOLA, Iowa - Competing against both Loras and Iowa Western Community College in a double dual, the Simpson women's swim team knocked off IWCC before falling to Loras on Saturday.
Simpson opened the day by taking the 200 medley relay, composed of Lennox Gradoville, Jessika Coll, Breana Hinson, and Carlee Smith with a time of 2:02.53 minutes. Kate Minette took home first place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 57.31 seconds, winning by nearly two seconds against the rest of the field. The Storm sweeped the top three spots in the 100 breaststroke behind the efforts of Coll, Steinbeck, and Katelyn Smith.
"Excited to see them get up and race," said head coach Adam Cvetich. "We've been working on all the little things - tight streamlines, aggressive breakouts, fast hands – and to see it go from practice into races is amazing. The team did great all round today."
Steinbeck took second overall in the 1,000 freestyle at 12:11.41, and Minette was the same in the 200 freestyle with her mark of 2:07.16. In the 200 IM, Hinson also earned second overall with her time of 2:09.70 minutes.
