A-R-C releases wrestling preseason poll

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Simpson wrestling team heads into the 2019-20 season picked to finish ninth in the American Rivers Conference standings after the league announced its Preseason Coaches' Poll Wednesday.

The Storm ended the 2018-19 campaign with a 1-14 overall dual record and went 0-8 against conference opponents. Simpson has six wrestlers returning from last year's squad, highlighted by senior Sam Mathis. Mathis is the lone upperclassmen and looks to lead the young group this year along with five returning sophomores, Spencer Anderson, Shyler Langley, Dylan McChesney, Jason Padilla and Jakob Slavin.

Dylan Peters is set to start his first season at the helm for the Storm as the program's 18th coach in team history. Simpson begins the season with a home dual against Cornell on Thursday, Nov. 7. The meet will begin at 7 p.m. inside Hopper Gymnasium.
