Tally named to WCGA All-American Team

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – After a dominant season on vault, Kaelyn Tally of the Simpson College women's gymnastics team has etched her name in history as the program's first-ever All-American. She was named to the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Second Team after posting an impressive 9.730 average on vault.

Tally's All-American recognition follows a stellar postseason performance, where she scored 9.725 at the NCGA Championships, narrowly missing All-American honors at that event. Throughout the regular season, she captured six vault titles and set a new program record with a 9.800 in a home meet against Gustavus Adolphus.

The Grants Pass, Ore., native also shined on floor, averaging 9.695 while securing two gold and two silver medals. Her standout performances earned her WIAC Specialist of the Week honors (Feb. 11) and an All-WIAC selection on vault.

The WCGA awards First Team All-America honors to the top (1) finisher, plus ties, of the NCAA regular season for all four (4) events plus the all-around in the NCGA East plus Centenary and from the NCGA West. Second Team All-America honors are awarded to the second (2nd) place finisher, plus ties, of the NCAA regular season for all four (4) events plus the all-around in each region. The restriction in the east to allow no more than one of the away meets to be out of the school's respective region does not apply. The awards will be based on all scores as of the Monday before the NCGA Championships. To view the complete All-America team, click here.
