Tally notches two wins, Simpson takes second at home triangular
INDIANOLA, Iowa – Kaelyn Tally won two events, Evalyn Resnick and Liz Sisler both broke the school record on bars, and the Simpson College women's gymnastics team began year two with a runner-up finish at their home triangular.
Winona State claimed the top spot with a team score of 187.275, while the Storm placed second with a 185.575, the team's best season-opening performance to date. Greenville rounded out the meet with a 185.025.
Tally claimed first place on vault and floor, and Olivia Hedary won beam to give Simpson three individual titles. Greenville's Ashlie Leage narrowly edged Evalyn Resnick for the uneven bars title, and Amara Nelson of Greenville secured the all-around crown.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Simpson strung together its third-highest score in team history with a 185.575. This was the Storm's best season-opening performance yet.
- Kaelyn Tally recorded her second-highest score on vault with a 9.700 to win her fifth career vault title. She later earned a 9.750 on floor to place first, the second floor win of her career.
- The Storm tied their program record on bars with a 44.725. Liz Sisler initially broke the individual record with a 9.350 in the fifth spot, only to be surpassed by Evalyn Resnick one routine later with a 9.600.
- Olivia Hedary highlighted her collegiate debut with a champion finish on beam, scoring a 9.675. She also finished second for the Storm on vault with a 9.425.
