Storm smash records in final home meet

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson College women's gymnastics team rewrote the record books Sunday afternoon at Cowles Fieldhouse, shattering three individual marks and a team record.

Kaelyn Tally became the first gymnast in program history to score at least a 9.800 on vault, extending her home winning streak in the event to four meets. Evalyn Resnick followed with a record-breaking 9.625 on bars, and Emma Tolbert delivered the highest score in any event in program history, winning floor with a 9.825.

Simpson posted its second-highest team score ever with a 188.650. Fueled by Tally's 9.800, the Storm won vault with a program-record 48.025. Simpson also claimed victory on floor with a 48.300. Gustavus Adolphus won bars and beam, while also breaking its overall program record with a 190.275.

ROTATION SUMMARY

  • VAULT - Simpson started the day with a record-breaking 48.025 on vault. Kaelyn Tally led the effort with the first score of 9.800 or higher in school history, winning her ninth career vault title and fourth consecutive in front of the home crowd. Emma Tolbert contributed a 9.625, earning third place, and Olivia Hedary registered a career-best 9.575.
  • BARS - Evalyn Resnick and Erin Baugh led the way for Simpson on bars, finishing first and third respectively. Resnick broke her own school record with a 9.625, becoming the first Simpson gymnast to win a bars title. Baugh recorded a new career high of 9.350.
  • BEAM - Simpson compiled its second-best beam score in program history with a 47.025. Olivia Hedary and Rachel Welch tied for the team lead (9.550), with Welch making her collegiate debut on the event in the process. Emmie Barton finished third on the team and achieved a personal best with a 9.525.
  • FLOOR - The Storm picked up their second event win of the day with a 48.300 on floor, a new season high and the second-best team mark in school history. Emma Tolbert garnered a 9.825, the highest individual score across any event ever by a Simpson gymnast, and Izzy Brown tied her career high of 9.675.
