Storm finish runner-up at UWL Triangular

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Simpson College women's gymnastics team claimed second place at the UWL Triangular with a score of 179.850.

The Storm opened the meet with their highest score of the season on beam, a 47.025. Baily Tessena won her second career beam title with a 9.600 and Avery Ingram finished runner-up with a 9.500. Brooklen Morgan and Emma Tolbert each produced a 9.400 and Izzy Brown earned a score of 9.125.

Simpson moved to floor exercise next and earned a team score of 45.450. Tolbert led the Storm for the third straight meet with a 9.200. Bella Dix earned a 9.175 in her floor debut and Ingram finished third for the team with a 9.1.

On vault, Kaelyn Tally secured a 9.575 to tie for third place and help Simpson match its season-high team score of 46.500. Dix scored a 9.350 in her first outing, Wynter Poolaw earned a 9.325, and Brown (9.200) and Tessena (9.050) had season-best scores.

The Storm closed the afternoon with a 40.875 on bars. Poolaw recorded a team-high 8.775 followed by Annika Cole (8.350) and Ingram (8.275).

Ingram won her second consecutive all-around title with a score of 35.925.

The hosts won the meet with a 188.225 and Hamline came in third with a 175.950. The Eagles won the vault (47.825), uneven bars (45.875) and floor (47.175), while Simpson took the beam title.

Simpson wraps its first month of competition with the first of two meetings with Greenville on Jan. 28 in Illinois. The Panthers are also in their inaugural season.
