Storm fall in regular season finales

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Simpson College men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches in American Rivers Conference action to conclude the team's 2022-23 campaign.

The Storm (4-12, 2-6 A-R-C) faced off with Wartburg and Coe in a doubleheader, knowing they had to win at least one of the two matches to have a shot at qualifying to postseason play.

The Knights (12-19, 5-3 A-R-C) of Wartburg got off to a good start in the first match, sweeping the doubles portions to take a 3-0 lead into singles. Wartburg extended its lead to 5-0 to clinch the match with wins at No. 1 and No. 5 singles, but the Storm claimed two matches of their own. Grant Love won in straight sets at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-3, while Javier Robles Solis won a third set super tiebreaker to claim a win at No. 2 singles.

Unfortunately, it did not get much better against Coe in the afternoon match. The Kohawks (15-8, 7-1 A-R-C) also swept the doubles portion of the match and won five of six singles matches to claim the match. Aaron Price added a win in straight sets at the No. 3 spot to finish off his Simpson career on a high note.
