Ceperley continues success at conference championships

DECORAH, Iowa - Jay Ceperley of the Simpson College men's swimming and diving team continued to lead the squad on the second day of the American Rivers Conference Championships.

Ceperley broke his personal best in the 100 yard butterfly by over a second in the prelims with a time of 54.72 to qualify for the B-Final. Ceperley also broke that time in the final to tie for second.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Ceperley clocked a time of 54.48 in the final to tie for second, just .10 seconds away from tying Ryan Gaumer's school record.
  • Christopher Olds broke his personal best in the 200 yard freestyle in the prelims and the B-Final like Ceperley, eventually swimming a time of 1:54.56.
  • Ceperley and Olds joined forces with Gabe Bruns and Nathan Parkins to swim a time of 8:04.20, a season-best time, in the 800 yard freestyle relay.
  • The Storm also passed Coe for fourth place in the overall team standings after day two.
