Storm begin 2024 at Grinnell

GRINNELL, Iowa - The Simpson College men's swimming and diving team began 2024 by competing on the first day at the Grinnell Invite.

Jay Ceperley and Christopher Olds were the lone Storm swimmers to compete on the first day, with more events scheduled for tomorrow. Ceperley, who normally specializes in events no longer than 200 meters, showed his versatility by qualifying for the B-Final in the 500 yard freestyle.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Ceperley swam a 5:22.28 in the 500 yard freestyle prelims and narrowly beat that in the final with a time of 5:22.01.
• Olds swam a 5:40.93 to qualify for the C-Final and then bested his time by over four seconds with a time of 5:36.49.
• Ceperley narrowly missed out on qualifying for a final in the 100 yard freestyle, swimming a 52.96, just a second off qualification.
