Ceperley named men’s swimming and diving performer of the week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Jay Ceperley of the Simpson College men's swimming and diving team was named the American Rivers Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week after leading the Storm to a victory over Coe.

Ceperley placed first in both of the individual events he swam in and also helped the 200 yard medley relay team to a win. He is earning his second weekly honor of the season and third across his career.

"I was excited that Jay was able to put together the meet that he did," said Storm head coach Adam Cvetich. "He has been putting a lot of work and effort into his butterfly and his stroke came out looking crisp in both the individual event and the relay. He has set himself up well and should be ready to have a great conference meet."

Ceperley won the 50 yard freestyle in a time of 23.23 and then set a season-best time of 56.76 to win the 100 yard butterfly. Ceperley also swam a 25.23 in the 50 yard butterfly in his relay leg, the fastest leg of any Storm member.

Ceperley and the Storm will get a couple weeks to prepare for the conference championships, beginning on Thursday, Feb. 22.
