Men's soccer edged by Bethel in OT

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Playing extra time for the second straight match, Simpson couldn't come away with the victory as Bethel took a 3-2 decision Monday.

Brent Neihart scored the game-winner in the 96th minute and assisted on the game-tying goal for Bethel (9-4-2).

The Storm (5-5-3) took a 2-1 lead at the 73:59 mark when Lucas Haack converted an unassisted goal into the left net. Chris Allen got Simpson on the board with his first goal of the season just over five minutes into the second half.

Brandon Peplinski and Zach Hurd also scored for the Royals.

Jeremy Ward grabbed seven saves for Simpson, while Nick Kantor made eight saves for Bethel.

Simpson returns home Wednesday when it faces Cornell in Iowa Conference action from Buxton Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
