
Pitching duo secures all-region accolades
INDIANOLA, Iowa – Senior Trey Castile and junior Eli Feekin were named to a couple of all-region teams following their successful seasons on the hill for the Simpson College baseball team.
Castile was elected to the ABCA All-Region 9 Third Team as a starting pitcher, while Feekin landed on the D3baseball.com All-Region 9 Third Team as a reliever. The duo carried Simpson to a 5.00 earned run average, combining for 148 of the team's 354 strikeouts that ranked second in the American Rivers Conference.
Trey Castile, third team
- Senior pitcher from Urbandale, Iowa
- Collects first all-region honor of his career following first team all-conference recognition earlier this month
- Registered a 3.42 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 10.65 strikeouts per nine innings
- Made 11 appearances and threw a career-high 71.0 innings
- Had the most wins (6) and strikeouts (84) of his career, ranking top 3 in the conference in both
- Became Simpson's all-time strikeout leader with his 62nd punchout of the season
- Had four double-digit strikeout performances, including a career-high 15 in a one-hit shutout against Central (8.2 IP)
- Named A-R-C Pitcher of the Week twice
- Landed on the national D3baseball.com Team of the Week once
Eli Feekin, third team
- Junior pitcher from Papillion, Neb.
- Earns first all-region nod after being named honorable mention all-conference
- Made 16 appearances overall, including 10 in relief
- Posted the third-lowest ERA in the conference (2.58)
- Tied for first in the conference with a .172 opposing batting average and 0.94 WHIP
- Struck out 64 batters in 59.1 innings pitched
- Earned his first career save in a 5-3 win over Central
