DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Simpson College baseball team dropped a 7-2 road decision to Dubuque on Friday.
Dubuque starter Johnny Blake dominated on the mound, striking out 17 batters while allowing just one hit and one walk in 7.0 innings of work. Offensively, the Spartans (15-8, 4-4 A-R-C) took a 4-0 lead into the fourth inning and added three more runs between the sixth and seventh for a 7-0 advantage.
Simpson registered two of its three hits in the eighth inning as the Storm plated two runs. Levi Herrick was hit by a pitch to start the frame and moved to second on a single by Zach Fuller. Sam Campin doubled to right field to put Simpson (9-14, 2-6 A-R-C) on the board and Fuller scored on an RBI groundout by Joel Sampson.
