Men’s gymnastics to join Eastern College Athletic Conference

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Simpson College announced the inaugural Storm men's gymnastics team will begin competition in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) at the start of the 2023 season.

"I am very excited for Simpson men's gymnastics to be joining the ECAC," head coach Colin Payne said. "The ECAC and the coaches have been incredibly supportive in helping Simpson find a home in this conference. Being eligible for a conference championship will have a huge impact on a year one team, allowing us to create obvious and achievable goals and providing closure on our inaugural season."

Simpson becomes the fifth men's gymnastics team in the league alongside associate members Army West Point, Navy, Springfield and William & Mary. The Storm will be immediately eligible to compete for the conference championship.

"Conference affiliation is a critical component in creating stability and competitive experiences for our student-athletes," Director of Athletics Marty Bell said. "We are sincerely grateful the ECAC is providing our new program with this opportunity."

About the ECAC
The ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) is an eighty-year old organization with well over 200 members schools across all three NCAA Divisions - I, II and III - that exists to enhance the experience of student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics, and provide great value for universities and colleges, by sponsoring championships, leagues, bowl games, tournaments and other competitions throughout the Northeast. Most of the ECAC's members also belong to another conference, which is often the school's primary conference.
