Both Simpson cross country teams appear in regional rankings

NEW ORLEANS - Both of the Simpson College cross country teams remained in the top 10 of this week's USTFCCCA Midwest Regional Rankings.

The women are ranked fifth in the region, while the men checked in seventh. Despite movement around the rankings, both Simpson teams have held their spots since the first week after the preseason rankings.

Both squads competed at the hyper-competitive Augustana Interregional last Saturday, the last meet before the A-R-C Championships on Oct. 28.

Over half of the field on each side was regionally or nationally ranked, with each race having over 45 teams. The Storm women and men each defeated the opponents below them in their region, while the women added a victory over one nationally ranked opponent. Spencer Moon took 10th overall out of over 400 runners and Lara Kallem finished 20th in a career-best time.

The Storm men are the fourth-ranked team in the American Rivers Conference while the Storm women are the third-ranked team.

The A-R-C Championship will take place on Oct. 28 in Pella, Iowa, hosted by Central.
