Kallem wraps up cross country season at nationals

NEWVILLE, Pa. - Lara Kallem of the Simpson College women's cross country team wrapped up her campaign by competing at the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday.

Kallem was the first runner to compete at the national meet on the women's side since 2010, placing 131st out of 293 runners in a time of 22:45.2 over the 6K course.

Kallem's season included all-conference and all-region honors while also setting career bests in five of seven races on the year.

"It is always great to have the Simpson jersey represented at the NCAA Championships," said Storm director of cross country and track and field Heath Moenck. "Lara had a terrific season and I am proud of the hard work she put in throughout the entire year."

Kallem will have some time off before the indoor track season opens on Dec. 1 at Grinnell.
