Storm put both teams in regional top 10

NEW ORLEANS - Both Simpson College cross country teams found themselves in the top 10 of the Week 1 USTFCCCA Midwest Regional Rankings, as announced on Tuesday.

The women held steady at the fifth spot, while the men checked in at seventh, just one spot lower than their preseason ranking of sixth. The women are the third American Rivers Conference team in the poll, while the men are the fourth.

Each team has finished no lower than second in the two meets they have competed in this season. The two teams dominated the Bill Buxton Invitational, highlighted by Spencer Moon taking the individual title for the men.

Both squads took second overall at the Les Duke Invitational this past weekend, with Moon claiming back-to-back wins. The senior from Lake City, Iowa also won the conference's Runner of the Week award for the first two weeks of the season.

The Storm will have a couple weeks off from competing, returning to the course at the end of the month to run at the Dan Huston Invite, hosted by Wartburg.
