Storm split on first day of Wartburg Invite

WAVERLY, Iowa - The Simpson volleyball team split play at the Wartburg Invitational on Friday, beating UW-River Falls 3-2 (25-17, 11-25, 30-28, 15-25, 15-10) in game one and falling to UW-Eau Claire 3-0 (25-19, 29-27, 25-15) in game two.

Megan Dunlavy had 27 kills and hit .250 to lead the Storm (6-12). With a team-high 18 kills in game one, Dunlavy extended her double-digit kills streak to 11 before coming away with nine in game two.

Dunlavy led three players in double figures in the first match, as McKaylie Croghan buried 13 kills and Steph Keller added 12. Ashley Padget handed out 43 assists in the match and Audrey Schuttler scooped 23 digs.

Croghan and Keller had 11 kills each against Eau Claire, but the Blugolds hit .328 as a team.

Padget had 72 assists on the day and Dunlavy added six blocks.

The Storm will face St. Olaf and UW-La Crosse on Saturday.
