Dunlavy named IIAC Athlete of the Week

Iowa Conference Release

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Megan Dunlavy totaled 60 kills against just 11 errors for a .371 hitting percentage in five matches last week, earning Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Athlete of the Week and Volleyball Hitter of the Week honors for the period ending Oct. 23.

Dunlavy, a senior from Bettendorf, Iowa, led the Storm (13-18) to a 3-2 mark during the week while being named to the all-tournament team at the Elmhurst Invitational.

In Simpson's lone conference match, Dunlavy set a school record for players with 15-19 attempts, swatting 14 kills in 17 attempts with no errors for an .824 hitting percentage in a 3-0 sweep of Luther on Wednesday. The mark is the second highest in school history.

A first team all-conference pick a year ago, Dunlavy earns the weekly honor for the third time in her career after winning twice in 2010. With 407 kills on the year, she owns the highest single-season total since the 25-point scoring format was introduced in 2008. She currently ranks eighth in school history with 1,319 career kills and third with a career hitting percentage of .271.

Dunlavy and the Storm close the regular season Thursday, Oct. 27 against Buena Vista. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m.
