Ellingson named IIAC Performer of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Simpson senior track and field athlete Catie Ellingson took home Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Most Valuable Track Performer honors for the period ending April 1.

Ellingson, a senior from Indianola, Iowa, won the 1,500-meter run at the Central Invitational March 31 with a time of 4 minutes, 38.8 seconds, beating a 47-runner field that included defending IIAC champion Keelie Finnel of Coe and runners from NCAA Division I Northern Iowa. It was her first outdoor competition since 2010 after missing the 2011 season due to an injury.

Ellingson and her teammates are in action Wednesday at the Loras Midweek Invitational in Dubuque.
