Simpson athletes perform well at Iowa State
AMES, Iowa - Two athletes from the Simpson track and field teams got an early start to the season at the 2011 Cyclone Holiday Preview hosted by Iowa State on Friday night.
Senior Kinsey Bak (Hinton, Iowa) won the high jump, clearing 5-5 3/4 feet (1.67 meters) on her third try, winning a jump-off against Northern Illinois' Kelly Moser. The effort currently stands as the second-best in the nation.
Senior Matt Stone (Boone, Iowa) took third in the Mile, finishing in 4:25.36. Because the race was run on a 300-meter track, the time converts to a 4:27.56, currently the 16th fastest time in the nation and a career-best for Stone.
