Storm conclude day two of Liberal Arts Championships

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Day two of the Liberal Arts Championships wrapped up on Thursday for the Simpson men's and women's swimming and diving teams.

The Storm competed in seven events as a whole, with the women participating in four and the men in three.

Alyssa Harris racked up the best-individual performance on the day for Simpson and did so in the 200-yard individual medley. Harris swam her way to ninth with a mark of 2:19.40, clipping three seconds off her previous best time in the event. In the 500-yard freestyle, Sarah Prendergast chopped nearly 20 seconds to earn her best time of the season with a 5:33.54 for 10th place.

The team of Mikala Williams-Yee, Cassie Bergman, Brenna Yeutsy and Prendergast hit the wall in 1:48.35 for eighth place in the 200-yard freestyle and claimed the team's best result in the race all year. The 400-yard medley relay ended in ninth.

On the men's side of things, Ryan Gaumer tied his season-best, 22.52, in the 50-yard freestyle. The unit of James McKee, Sam Law, Austin Andes and Gaumer raced in the 200-yard freestyle relay and Blake Kakacek, Andes, McKee and Law competed in the 400-yard medley relay, both relays earned eighth.
