INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Simpson women's swimming team closed the home schedule in style on Friday night, picking up a 94-34 win over Iowa Lakes CC inside Cowles Center.

The Storm (2-4) won eight of 11 events on the night as six different swimmers won individual events. Simpson added wins in the 200 medley and freestyle relays, swimming unopposed in both.

"We've been working really hard since break and the women came in and showed it tonight," head coach Aaron Strain said. "Iowa Lakes is a good team, so it was nice to pick up another win because the girls certainly earned it."

Stefani Smith won the 200 freestyle (2:33.19), Andrea Duncan won the 50 freestyle (30.07), Catherine Mayes won the 200 meeter IM (2:51.96), Tierney Kamies won the 100 freestyle (1:14.19), Hannah Yarborough won the 400 freestyle (5:15.48) and Megan Lein won the 100 breaststroke (1:27.57).

Mayes - the team's lone senior - was recognized for her four years in the program during the Senior Night presentation.

"Catherine has been a constant in the program for the last four years," Strain said. "It's been wonderful to have her around. She works hard and is a very dedicated athlete. She has been a joy to coach over the last four years."

The Storm will take part in the Grinnell Invitational next weekend, Jan. 20-21.
