Storm swimmers fall to Loras

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Simpson women's swimming team lost a 106-51 decision to Loras and the men fell 109-26 on Friday night in Cowles Center.

The best finish of the day for the Storm came courtesy of freshman Hannah Yarborough, who won a combined men's and women's heat of the 400 freestyle in 5:05.31. Yarborough added a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle (2:30.09).

Catherine Mayes and Megan Lein chipped in with a pair of second-place finishes. Mayes placed second in the 200 IM (2:53.87) and 100 backstroke (1:21.04) and Lein took second in the 50 freestyle (32.50) and the 100 breaststroke (1:26.54).

Stefani Smith took second in the 100 butterfly (1:22.13), and Emily Magers took second in the 100 freestyle (1:15.55).

Swimming short-handed due to an injury to Stephen Schmidt, the men's team still managed one first-place and three second-place performances.

Cody Zaring won the 400 freestyle (5:24.00) and added a second-place showing in the 100 breaststroke (1:23.39).

Nathan Schneider added second-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (2:22.71) and the 100 butterfly (1:15.40).

The Simpson swimmers hit the water again Saturday, Nov. 19 when they travel to Decorah for a dual with Luther. Start time is set for 2 p.m.
