Storm win first dual of 2011
OMAHA, Neb. - The Simpson women's swimming team won its first dual of the season on Friday, beating host College of St. Mary 93-84 as part of a double-dual with Iowa Central CC. Simpson fell to the Tritons, 96-64.
Megan Lein (Des Moines, Iowa) won the 100 breaststroke (1:18.78) and Hannah Yarborough (Winthrop Harbor, Ill.) won the 500 freestyle (6:00.27) to lead the Storm (1-4).
Lein also took third in the 200 freestyle (2:23.56).
Yarborough dominated in the 500 free, winning by more than 21 seconds. She also took second in both the 1,000 (12:12.32) and the 200 freestyle.
Catherine Mayes (Muscatine, Iowa) finished second in the 200 IM (2:35.29) and the placed third in the 100 backstroke (1:13.61). Emily Magers (Colorado Springs, Colo.) took third in the 50 free (31.78) and the 100 free (1:08.24), while Stefani Smith (Red Oak, Iowa) finished third in the 200 IM (2:36.69) and the 100 butterfly (1:12.77).
Simpson will be off until January, when it hosts Iowa Lakes CC in the final home dual of the season on Jan. 13 at 6 p.m.
