Storm take fifth at Morningside

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - The Simpson women's swimming team turned in 10 top-10 finishes and placed fifth of seven teams at the Morningside Invitational on Saturday.

Anna Aldridge, Catherine Mayes and Hannah Yarborough each had two top-10 finishes for the Storm and head coach Aaron Strain.

"We swam extremely well today," head coach Aaron Strain said. "We had a tough week of practice and swam a meet last night, but still had the toughness to swim a few lifetime best times and several season bests. We should swim very fast once we have some rest."

Aldridge placed ninth in both the 50 and 100 freestyles. She touched the pad in 27.93 in the 50 and swam a 1:01.02 in the 100.

Mayes finished eighth in the 100 backstroke (1:13.00) and tenth in the 200 IM (2:37.83).

Yarborough's best finish was in the 500 freestyle, in which she placed eighth (5:53.32). She added a 10th-place showing in the 200 freestyle (2:17.52).

Megan Lein provided the Storm's best finish of the meet when she completed the 100 breaststroke in 1:20.04, good for seventh place.

Stephanie Turner added a 10th-place effort in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in 1:24.76.

Simpson returns to the pool Friday, Nov. 18 when it hosts Loras in an Iowa Conference dual. Start time is set for 6 p.m.
