McChesney advances to day two of NCAA Regionals

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- Dylan McChesney is the only wrestler left standing for Simpson after the first day of the NCAA Lower Midwest Regional in Dubuque, Iowa at the Five Flags Center.

McChesney wasted no time in capturing his first victory of the day in the opening bout at 125 pounds. The sophomore used a 0:56 pin to get in the win column over Luther's Sam Camacho. In his second round match, McChesney claimed a 9-3 decision against Wartburg's Brady Kyner.

Shyler Langley started the 174-pound division by owning a third-period pin for the victory. The sophomore battled during his next two matches, but lost both to exit the event.

Dalton Cockman looked to advance to Sunday, but dropped his third contest to fall out. Cockman lost his opener at 165 pounds, but rebounded with a pin in 3:31. The freshman had to keep winning to stay alive, but lost by pin to close out his rookie campaign.

At 133 pounds, Jason Peta started with a defeat, but responded with a major decision of 13-1 to even his record. The momentum didn't last long as Peta dropped his next contest to end the year.

Sam Mathis concluded his career on Saturday for the Storm with two losses as the team's lone senior.
