Storm grapplers defeat Ozarks at Gator Duals

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Shyler Langley and Sam Mathis finished 3-1 at the Gator "Boots" Duals on Saturday and the Simpson wrestling team picked up a win over the University of the Ozarks to close out the Storm's 2019 portion of their schedule.

Simpson captured a 25-17 defeat over the Eagles, but fell to Delaware Valley (27-25), Millikin (34-12) and Manchester (32-12) to close out the duals with a 1-3 mark.

Langley reeled off three straight victories at 174 pounds, including a pin at the 5:53 mark in the bout against Millikin's Griffin Meeker. Mathis suffered an opening dual loss before closing his day with a pin and two decisions at 197 pounds. His pin came in the first period at 1:06 against Ryder Marshall of Millikin.

Dalton Cockman (165) earned two wins with one pin, while Mason Kruljac (157) and Bryan Cordova (285) each recorded pins. Kruljac had the fastest fall of the day for Simpson with a 45-second pin against the Ozarks' Kade McMahon, Dylan McChesney (125), Josh Bower (133), Sam McCoy (141), Jakob Slavin (149) and Robert Silva (157) all received wins for the Storm.
