Wrestlers fall on the road at Central

PELLA, Iowa -- The trio of Dylan McChesney, Dalton Cockman and Sam Mathis all earned wins for Simpson wrestling on Thursday in a 36-14 loss at Central to close out American Rivers Conference competition.

McChesney brought the energy in the opening bout at 125 pounds to put the Storm on the board with an early 5-0 lead after a 16-0 technical fall. The sophomore earned the win in 4:08 over Eric Santana.

With the contest in favor of the Dutch at 19-5, Dalton Cockman had to go into overtime to secure a triumph at 165 pounds. Cockman was tied 4-4 at the end of regulation against Collin Groleau before grabbing a takedown to receive two points for the sudden victory and three points for Simpson.

Sam Mathis provided the lone pin of the night for the Storm coming at 197 pounds. The senior tallied six team points with a second round pin at the 4:16 mark to round out his conference slate.

Mason Kruljac came close to a victory at 157 pounds, but fell 2-1 in a slim decision by Luke Condy.
