Scott wins title, Storm place fifth at Central

PELLA, Iowa — DeVaughn Scott won the 197-pound title, Noah Robinson took second at 184 pounds and a short-handed Simpson team placed fifth of 13 teams at the Central Under Armour Invitational on Saturday.

Scott breezed through the 197-pound bracket, pinning his first two opponents before earning a 12-6 decision over Hannibal-La Grange's Drew McCollum in the semifinals. Scott matched up with Central's Duncan Lee in the championship, taking home the title with a 10-5 win.

The title is the first of Scott's career, who's previous best was a third-place finish.

Robinson came up one-point shy of giving Simpson a second title on the day. He went 2-1 at 184 pounds, getting decisions over Corbin Folson and Wayne Sommerlot of Central to advance to the title. He lost a narrow 5-4 decision in the title match to Logan Moore of Morningside.
