Mathis, Piatt compete at Duhawk open

DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Simpson wrestling team sent its heavyweights to compete at the Duhawk Open on Saturday following the cancellation of Friday's dual with St. Olaf.

Sam Mathis and Damon Piatt represented the Storm in Dubuque with Mathis taking home a win. He finished the day 1-2, pinning William Penn's Davroy Atkinson in 3:27. Piatt lost a pair of decisions.

The Storm return to action Friday, Feb. 2 with a dual at Buena Vista.
