Simpson duo complete season at nationals

NEWVILLE, Pa. - Spencer Moon and Ean Warrick of the Simpson College men's cross country team completed their seasons by competing at the NCAA Division III Championships.

Moon, competing in his third national meet, finished 94th in a field of almost 300 runners, clocking a time of 25:40.5 over the 8K event. Wisconsin-La Crosse's Ethan Gregg pulled away early in the race and won, but Moon was in the top chase pack for the first two miles. That chase pack eventually pulled away in an attempt to catch Gregg, but to no avail.

Warrick competed in his first national meet after earning the last all-region and national qualifier spot at the NCAA Midwest Regional. Warrick completed the course in 26:09.2 to finish 167th, moving up the pack in each split. Warrick moved up 34 spots from the 5K split to the finish line, highlighting a strong finish.

"It is always great to have the Simpson jersey represented at the NCAA Championships," said Heath Moenck, director of cross country and track and field. "I am grateful for all the hard work Spencer and Ean put in this season and it was a great season for them."

While the cross country season is over, the indoor track season will begin on Dec. 1, with the teams traveling to Grinnell for the Grinnell Invite.
