Moon punches ticket to NCAA Championships

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Simpson College men's track and field junior Spencer Moon has officially qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships and will compete against the nation's best in the 10,000 meters next Thursday evening.

Moon qualified for the championships with the 15th-best time in the nation, 29:53.79.

It will be his third appearance at a national meet this year and fourth in a row dating back to the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships. He competed in the 5,000 meters a year ago before qualifying for the cross country championships in the fall and indoor championships in March.

This year's outdoor championships will take place at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio from May 26-28. The men's 10,000-meter run will begin at 9:15 p.m. ET on Thursday, May 26.

For each men's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each women's individual event contested, including the pentathlon, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 16 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.
