Storm drop match at Central

PELLA, Iowa -- The Simpson men's tennis team lost 9-0 at Central after the weather pushed the contest from the Buxton Tennis Complex to Pella, Iowa on Thursday.

Things started out slow for the Storm (7-12, 1-6 A-R-C) as the Dutch (11-7, 6-1) did not lose more than three games in a set in singles play.

Brett Dewerff had a tough match at No. 3 singles for Simpson, but fell 6-3, 6-3. Matt Turnley turned in a good effort at No. 4 singles, but could not get overcome his opponent and lost 6-2, 6-2.

Zach Nelson was going to play his last match at home this evening, but the rain said otherwise. Nelson went down 6-1 after opening set and dropped the second, 6-3.

In doubles play, Reade Reiter and Nelson battled to an 8-5 defeat at No. 1 singles. Central did not lose a game in the other two matches.

The Storm travel to Luther on Saturday for the last regular season contest of the season. Match will begin at 1 p.m.
