Nebraska Wesleyan clips Storm tennis

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Simpson men's tennis team lost 5-4 at Nebraska Wesleyan on Friday with the Storm grabbing two matches from singles and doubles play.

Matt Turnley turned in a strong effort at No. 4 singles with 6-2, 6-0 wins. Peter Walkwitz won a two-set match at No. 5 singles at 6-4, 6-4 for his second-straight win.

The doubles pair of Zach Nelson and Reade Reiter had to go into a tiebreaker to win and won 8-7 (7-4), its their second-straight victory. Karson Richardson and Turnley won 8-6 at No. 3 singles for Simpson.

Nelson won his first set at No. 1 singles, but could not hang on to win and lost 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Reiter had the same outcome after starting out strong in the first set with a 7-5 win, but lost the next two 6-2, 6-2 to fall.

The Storm (7-11) host Central on Thursday, April 25 at 3:30 p.m. inside the Buxton Tennis Complex.
