MBB Preview: Simpson hosts Loras on senior day

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Senior day is planned for Simpson College men's basketball this Saturday when Loras visits town for an American Rivers Conference showdown. Tip is slated for 5 p.m.

The Storm (2-5, 2-3 A-R-C) last played Feb. 8 when they won 68-61 over Luther. The Duhawks (6-3, 3-2 A-R-C) dropped an 85-81 contest to Coe on Monday to remain third in the league standings.

Simpson will honor Alec Hinson, Sam Schlegel and Kade Tatkenhorst as its three seniors ahead of tipoff.

SIMPSON ATTENDANCE POLICY
The general public, faculty and staff are still not permitted to watch contests in-person, while student-athletes and coaches from both teams will be permitted two spectators that can attend, in addition to the 25 students. All spectators will be required to wear a mask and maintain a distance of six feet from others.

LORAS SERIES NOTES
For the 102nd time, the Duhawks and Storm square up on the hardwood ... Loras has secured five-straight victories in the series ... Simpson almost won the first meeting last season, but dropped an 82-78 in front of its home crowd before the Duhawks responded with an 18-point win to claim the season sweep.

Loras is third in the league standings with three victories coming against Buena Vista, Nebraska Wesleyan and Wartburg ... the offense is producing 87.4 points per game for second among league schools and is led by four scorers in double figures: Rowen McGowen (17.0), Cole Navigato (16.3), Jake Healy (12.6) and Griffen Clark (12.4).

LAST TIME OUT
It's been nearly 20 days since Simpson last played in a game after walking away with a 68-61 victory against Luther ... the contest showcased five lead changes and three ties as the Storm secured their second-straight win at home ... junior Chris Honz missed his third double-double of the year with 18 points and nine rebounds, while sophomore Collin Lister added 13 points.

UP NEXT
Wartburg (3-6, 1-4 A-R-C) comes to Indianola on Monday for a 5:30 p.m. game. The two squads previously met on Jan. 12 for the season opener for the Storm, but the Knights prevailed, 69-64.
