Bak earns Iowa Conference Performer of the Week honors

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Kinsey Bak (Hinton, Iowa/Hinton) broke a school record and automatically qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the high jump last weekend, leading to her selection as the Iowa Conference Performer of the Week in field events, the conference office announced late Monday.

Bak, a sophomore, won the high jump at the Kip Janvrin Open, breaking an 18-year old school record, tying a meet record and automatically qualifying for the NCAA Championships by clearing 5 foot, 7 ¼ inches. Her jump is tied for second-best in Division III this season. She also placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.93) and 11th in the long jump (15-7 ¾).

Bak is the defending Iowa Conference champion in the outdoor high jump and placed third in the event at this year's NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. She also set an Iowa Conference record in the pentathlon, winning with a score of 3,315.
