Simpson women's tennis picked eighth in A-R-C Preseason Coaches' Poll

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Led by two-time all-conference selection Bella Tranquilino, the Simpson College women's tennis program was selected eighth in the American Rivers Conference Preseason Coaches Poll on Thursday.

The Storm will be led by newly announced director of tennis and head women's coach Nicole Berger in 2024. Berger brings over two decades of tennis experience to campus, most recently coaching the Norwalk and Dowling Catholic high school boy's teams for three seasons.

Simpson returns five starters from last season, headlined by senior Tranquilino and sophomore Grace Peck. The two combined for eight victories last season, including five in conference action. Other notable returners include seniors Maggie Hall and Anna Schewe, along with junior Savana Walls, and sophomore Coilee Hynek.

A LOOK AT 2023

  • The Storm finished with a 2-6 record in conference action, featuring wins over Buena Vista and Dubuque.
  • Simpson recorded 19 individual victories, with Tranquilino, Peck and Hynek tying for the lead with four.
  • Tranquilino, Schewe, and Walls were named to the A-R-C All-Academic Team, while Tranquilino was also selected to the CSC Academic All-District Team.
