Storm competed in two tournaments this weekend
ST. PETER, Minn. -- The Simpson women's tennis team competed in the ITA Midwest Regional Championships and the Gustavus Adolphus Fall Invitational this weekend in St. Peter, Minn.
Emily King fell in her first match 7-5, 6-1, then bounced back to take two wins in the consolation bracket. Her first win came against UW-Eau Claire's Emily Cooper and afterward went on to beat St. Mary's Cassandra Barr.
The doubles team of Kennedi Wright and King defeated Carroll's Maya Graedtke and Caroline Merkatoris 8-6, but lost in the second round.
At the Gustavus Fall Invite, Megan Grubb was the only member of the Storm to win a match in the singles division. Grubb trumped NW-St. Paul's Jessica Gross 8-6. Lorin Miller, Sam Goodger, Kennedi Wright and Donni Kinghorn also competed for Simpson in this bracket.
Kinghorn and Goodger were able to pull out a victory in the first round of doubles play. The duo bested Wartburg's Amber Laube and Gabby Olejniczak with a score of 8-6. However, their run ended in the next round at the hands of a UW-Whitewater team. Grubb and Miller played in the doubles division as well, but came up short in their first match.
