Storm honor seniors with dominating win in season finale with Buena Vista

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson women's soccer team sent its seniors out in style in a dominating 6-0 win over Buena Vista on senior night in the season finale.

The Storm (5-13, 1-6) controlled the pace of the game from whistle to whistle but the Beavers (3-13, 0-7) kept Simpson off the scoreboard until the 47th minute when Meredith Harrison used a Casey Reisen cross to put Simpson up 1-0.

Reisen did the scoring herself in the 68th minute, winning the battle with Buena Vista goalkeeper Rachel Novotny for a loose ball, which she put away for a 2-0 lead.

Just under nine minutes later, Mackenzie Stump scored on a free kick that caromed off the bottom of the crossbar and in, making it 3-0 Simpson.

Simpson wasn't done, completing their scoring with three goals between the 84th and 87th minutes courtesy of Kate Morford and both Stump and Reisen's second goals of the game.

The Storm outshot the Beavers 20-3, with 15 shots being on goal.

Senior Kristin Riley evened up her season record to 3-3, needing to make just one save in 90 minutes.

The win was Simpson's first conference victory since downing Coe 2-0 on Oct. 19, 2013.

Seniors Laura Alt, Katelyn Behounek, Katie Eichelberger, Ashlee Faul, Megan Lankford, Amy Loverin, Kate Morford, Kristin Riley and Bailey Sipfle were honored following the match.
