Women’s soccer announces 2015 slate
INDIANOLA, Iowa – The women's soccer team and first-year head coach Jill Serafino recently released the 2015 schedule, which features 18 games, 11 non-conference contests and nine home games.
The season begins Saturday, Sept. 5 at Grinnell. Other key dates include the home opener on Sept. 6 against St. Catherine, the Iowa Conference opener on Sept. 26 at Loras and the conference home opener on Oct. 3 against Dubuque. The regular season concludes at home against Buena Vista on Oct. 27.
The top six teams in the league qualify for the Iowa Conference Tournament, which begins Oct. 31. The semifinals will take place Nov. 4 and the conference's NCAA automatic qualifier will be crowned on Nov. 7. The higher seed will serve as the host in each round.
The Storm will look to improve upon last season's 2-16-1 mark under Serafino, who came to Simpson from Springfield College in Massachusetts. There, she served as an assistant coach for three seasons while helping the Pride to three NEWMAC championships and three trips to the NCAA Division III Championship.
Rising junior Mackenzie Stump is a returning First Team All-IIAC performer for the Storm.
