Simpson tallies road win at Platteville

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The Simpson women's soccer team got out of the gates fast and held on for a rare road win, beating Wisconsin-Platteville 3-2 on Sunday afternoon.

First-half goals by Meredith Harrison and Mackenzie Stump helped the Storm (2-2) build a 2-0 lead in the first half. Platteville cut the lead to 2-1 before Casey Reisen made it 3-1 in the 86th minute. The Pioneers (1-4) added a goal in garbage time.

The road win is the first for the Storm in nearly two years, the last coming Sept. 16, 2013.

Harrison's goal came in the 16th minute. Stump made it a two-goal lead when she beat Platteville keeper Amanda Taylor 1-on-1. Reisen provided what turned out to be the game-winner when she beat the keeper near post with less than five minutes to play.
