OSKALOOSA, Iowa – Kate Morford scored the game-winning goal with 55 seconds remaining in the second overtime, Kristin Riley pitched a shutout in goal and the Simpson women's soccer team beat William Penn 1-0 in non-conference action Tuesday.
Morford gathered an assist from Mara Rhodes in the 110th minute to score the golden goal as the Storm (4-12) escaped with a win after controlling the run of play for most of the night. Riley made six saves in her first start since Sept. 16.
Simpson outshot the Statesmen (5-9) 22-9, snapping a four-game losing streak.
