Stump's goal helps women's soccer earn draw at Buena Vista

STORM LAKE, Iowa – The Simpson women's soccer team earned its first point of the conference season in dramatic fashion.

Mackenzie Stump scored the tying goal with just over a minute left and two overtime periods failed to yield a goal as Simpson earned a 1-1 draw against Buena Vista on Wednesday night.

Heather Adolph found Stump for the equalizer with 62 seconds left in regulation, the second time this season Simpson has forced extra time in the waning seconds.

Kristin Riley made 10 saves the Storm (2-9-1, 0-1-1 Iowa Conference), who are 2-2-1 in their last five matches after starting the season 0-7.

Tori Carson put Buena Vista on the board in the 62nd minute, but the defense couldn't keep Simpson out of the net. The Beavers (3-4-3, 0-1-1) outshot Simpson 17-12, including 4-0 in extra time.
