Simpson tallies first meet win in program history

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Fueled by a strong finish on floor, the Simpson College women's gymnastics team secured its first meet win in program history with a 183.900-183.750 victory over Hamline.

The Storm led by 2.45 points after the first rotation, but found themselves trailing by less than a point at the conclusion of both the second and third rounds. Simpson needed a big finish on floor to win the meet and managed just that, using four scores of 9.625 or higher to come away with the victory.

Kaelyn Tally (vault, floor) and Bella Dix (all-around) were both crowned event champions and Simpson finished the day with 10 top 3 medals. The Storm won vault (46.700) and floor (47.800), while Hamline claimed the bars (44.250) and beam (46.875) titles.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Tally became just the third Simpson gymnast to win multiple event titles in the same meet, coming out on top in both vault (9.475) and floor (9.750).
• Bella Dix and Abbie Lain finished first and second in the all-around. Both of their highest scores of the day came on beam as they tied for third with a 9.625, Lain's new career high.
• Brooklen Morgan secured two bronze medals. She led the Storm with a season-high 9.450 on beam to earn third outright and tied Wynter Poolaw for third place on vault with a 9.325.
• Annika Cole finished runner-up on floor with a 9.675, her third-highest score.

UP NEXT
Simpson closes out the 2024 regular season with a road meet at Winona State on Friday, March 1. It will be the Storm's final chance to qualify for the NCGA Championships in Pennsylvania.
