Storm set floor and bars records at Lindenwood Tri-Meet

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Emma Charles earned two second-place medals, Bella Dix finished third in the all-around, and the Simpson College women's gymnastics team set program records on floor and bars at the Lindenwood Tri-Meet.

The Storm started the day with a program-record 44.145 on bars led by Charles' score of 9.225 from the anchor spot, the highest-ever bars score by a Simpson gymnast. After earning a 45.725 score on beam, Simpson set another program record on floor (48.500). All six members of the Storm lineup either set or tied their personal bests in the rotation.

Simpson closed the day with a 47.725 score on vault to earn a final mark of 186.075, the second-highest in team history and just 0.125 away from the school record set at home two weeks ago. Centenary edged the Storm with 187.950 team points for second place, while Lindenwood won the meet with a 194.825.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • Emma Charles continued her impressive freshman season by claiming second place on both beam and vault, earning a 9.725 on each. She also set a new school record on bars (9.225).
  • Bella Dix competed in all four events for the first time in her collegiate career and recorded an all-around score of 37.250, the second-highest all-around score by a Simpson gymnast, to place third. She tied Emma Tolbert's school record of 9.800 on floor, earned a career-high 8.750 on bars, tied her personal best on beam (9.300) and received a 9.400 on vault.
  • Annika Cole tied her career high on bars (9.075) and set a new personal best on floor (9.775).
  • Kaelyn Tally was one of five Storm gymnasts to set a personal best on floor (9.700) and finished second on the team on vault (9.675).
  • Along with Dix, Cole and Tally, Izzy Brown and Kaley Bristow earned career-high marks on floor. Brooklen Morgan also matched her own career high to contribute to the new school record.

The Storm are set to make another trip to Wisconsin to face Wis.-Eau Claire on Friday night at 6 p.m.
