Panzer's career game not enough against Robert Morris

DECATUR, Ill. – Brooke Panzer had a career game and Simpson had a chance to tie the game in final seconds but came up short in a 77-74 loss to Robert Morris-Springfield on Saturday.

Panzer scored 18 of her career-high 27 points in the second half and the Storm (4-3) had a potential game-tying 3 blocked in the closing seconds after trailing by nine with a minute left.

Cassandra Baker scored 23 points and Traci Osby scored 20 off the bench to lead the Eagles (3-4), who won despite giving up 40 points off turnovers.

Robert Morris took a 77-68 lead with 1 minute left on an Osby layup. Morgan Mauro made her fourth 3 of the game on the ensuing possession and a steal by MacKenzie Haupt gave Simpson the ball back. Panzer converted a three-point play to pull Simpson within 77-74 with 11 seconds left.

A missed Robert Morris free throw gave Simpson a chance, but Morgan Terpstra's last-second, 3-point attempt was blocked by Baker as time expired.

Mauro scored 14 points on 4 of 7 shooting from beyond the arch and Cari Knowlton came off the bench to score 11 points and grab seven rebounds for Simpson.

The Storm travel to Mt. Mercy on Saturday, Dec. 14.
