Storm fall to Grand View

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Haleigh Biancalana made a pair of free throws to give Grand View a 68-66 lead with 4:49 left and Grand View held off the No. 22 Simpson women's basketball team in the final minutes of a 78-72 win in the final game of the Simpson Classic on Saturday afternoon.

Taylor Nashert hit a 3-pointer on the next possession for the Vikings (5-4), who went 2-0 on the weekend. Nashert led the team with 17 points on 7 of 8 shooting and tournament MVP Mika Rodewald added 15 and six blocks.

Pee Wee Porter was also named to the all-tournament team for Grand View.

Brooke Panzer had a game-high 19 points and eight rebounds to lead the Storm (3-2), who went 1-1 on the weekend. Panzer earned a spot on the all-tournament team, as did Maddie Bosworth, who scored 13 points and had two steals.

MacKenzie Haupt hit a 3-pointer to bring Simpson within 71-70, but a Shelbie Beatty jumper and two free throws from Devon Jensen with 2:28 left put the game out of reach.

A back-and-forth affair, neither team led by more than seven in a game that featured 12 ties and 15 lead changes. Simpson attempted nine more shots than Grand View, but the Vikings shot 48.2 percent from the field.

Simpson will paly Millikin and Robert Morris in Decatur, Ill. next weekend.
