Sheehan ends second, Storm tally third among league foes

WAUKEE, Iowa -- In the fall finale, the Simpson shooting sports club recorded a third-place finish at the SCTP Iowa Conference meet in Waukee on Saturday.

The Storm had a score of 1222 to finish behind Grand View (1243) and William Penn (1240). Coe ended fourth and Dordt followed in fifth.

"I am really happy with how we performed as a team during the course of the fall season," said head coach Dan Martin. "The upperclassmen have really taken to their leadership roles and as a result, the freshmen student-athletes have improved quickly and are contributing to our team's overall success. We are in a great place going forward and hope we can continue our success this spring season."

Molly Sheehan tallied second in the female high overall score, with teammates Kylie Tierney and Anna Lopez finishing third and fourth, respectively. Mackenzie Magnan was seventh and Samantha Cardinal recorded ninth.

For the men, Matt Wilkinson was fifth in the male high overall score and Kyle Myers finished eighth.

Wilkinson missed just two targets during skeet to finish second to grab Simpson's highest placing during an event. The Wilbraham, Mass. native collected sixth in trap to help his overall score. Lopez shot 67 targets in sporting clays to tally fourth and Myers closed in with sixth.

The Storm return to action on Friday, Feb. 19 for the two-day Mizzou Shootout in Columbia, Mo.
