Myers leads Storm against conference teams

WAUKEE, Iowa -- The Simpson shooting sports club finished third out of five teams at the SCTP Iowa Conference meet on Saturday, Oct. 24.

The Storm collected 1259 targets out of 1500 chances to finish behind Grand View (1303) and William Penn (1293). Wartburg and Dordt ended fourth and fifth, respectively, while the competition showcased 63 participants from those five institutions.

Kyle Myers finished second in skeet after only missing two targets in 100 chances to grab Simpson's best placing, while Matt Wilkinson earned sixth and Kylie Tierney recorded 12th.

During the sporting clays discipline, Wilkinson tallied fifth after hitting 78 of 100 targets. Myers grabbed his second top-10 performance with a seventh-place showing and Wyatt Heisterkamp closed in on Myers in eighth.

In trap, Samantha Cardinal missed only eight targets out of 100 to end 14th and John Williams missed one more than his teammate to finish 19th with a 91.

Action resumes for Simpson on Saturday, Nov. 14 in another SCTP Iowa Conference event at the New Pioneer Gun Club in Waukee.
